Q1 of 2019: Georgia hosts over 1.5 million international Travellers

Georgia hosted 882,130 tourists (+5.1%) and 1,617,548 international travellers (+2.2) in the first quarter (Q1) of 2019, announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).

The countries with the most significant increase were:

  • Israel (+114.6%)
  • China (+59.3%)
  • Saudi Arabia (+52.8%)

A positive trend was maintained by visitors from the European Union:

  • Latvia (+84.5%)
  • Slovakia (+81.8%)
  • The Czech Republic (+76.3%)
  • Poland (+79.1%)
  • Czech Republic (+66.8%)
  • Lithuania (+43.3%)
  • Germany (+30.8%)

How did Georgia benefit from more visitors?

In January-February 2019, international tourism revenue reached $333.7 million, which is $15 million more compared to the same period of 2018.
