Coronavirus opens the markets of Egypt and Georgia
In the spring of 2020, previously closed but very popular tourist destinations will be opened for Russian tourists: Egypt and Georgia. The source familiar with the discussion of issues told TURPROM information group about active consultations with interested parties on the opening of Egypt and Georgia.
Coronavirus paradoxically works in favor of opening of these countries. After the closure of China, Russian airlines lost a huge market as their capacities were involved not only in transporting Russian tourists to China, but also in the transit service of numerous Chinese tourists, and planes stand idle for long can only be loaded in new mass directions. These new and old destinations can be only Egypt and Georgia.
Egyptian media reports that the Russian delegation, which included eight participants, praised the safety of Egyptian airports and gave the green light to the full resumption of direct flights between Russian cities and Egyptian resorts.
Georgia is the second country the analysts predict to open in spring. Russian planes have not flown there since last July after Russian MP’s visit at the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy.
According to the comments on the presidential decree “closing” Georgia, the aviation ban will be in effect “until the situation in Georgia is normalized and any threats to the security of our citizens will be vanished”.
