Number of tourists visiting Georgia increases 5.9% in January 2019

Georgia hosted 305,939 tourists in January 2019, showing an increase of 5.9% year-on-year (y/y) announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).
The countries with the most significant increase were:
- Uzbekistan (+217.1%)
- Israel (+132.1%)
- Kyrgyzstan (+112%)
- China (+72.8%)
- Saudi Arabia (+72.7%)
A positive trend was maintained by visitors from the European Union:
- Poland (+130.5%)
- The Czech Republic (+96%)
- Spain (+65.1%)
- Latvia (+63.5%)
- Germany (+46.6%)
- Lithuania (+40.8%)
How did Georgia benefit from more visitors?
About $3.2 billion was generated from tourism in Georgia in 2018, which was $498 million more compared to 2017, said the GNTA.
Meanwhile, in all of 2017 international tourism revenue reached $2.7billion, which was $594 million more compared to 2016.
